平均寿命が短い訳は色々有るようようですが、日本の様な老人を殆ど見た事がない。
日本は長寿国故老後の生活の為に６５歳を過ぎても働き、インドネシアは６５歳まで生きれば十分じゃないかと言っている様な気もします。こんな事もゆったり時空を生み出す要因の一つかも知れません。
日本は略時間通りに動く様なシステムを作り上げて来た。これは或る意味日本全体にストレスを掛けなければ成せない事だろうし、又日本人はその様に育てられて来ている。その為一日がギュﾂと詰まっている気がするし、予定も立てやすい。しかし、予想外の事でこのシステムが狂った時はその修正に更に大きなストレスを人に掛けなければいけなくなる。
一方インドネシアでは日本程ストレスを掛けて動くシステムを作り上げて来ていない為或る一部分を遅滞なく機能させてもインドネシアンタイムとしか言いようが無い説明のつかない時間の流れ方で動いており、全体が効率良く動いていないのであまり意味が無い様に見える。
これが、インドネシアなのだと言われればそれまだだが、今後中古船及び新造船も増える中順調な船の運行を目指すにはクルーや事務部を含めた機関知識のレベルアップ等も必要ですが、最大のポイントは問題が起きているのにそれが問題であると気付かない事が問題で、これがあまり気にしてないと言う風に見えてしまい、最終的に大きな事象となって現れて来る。従ってこれを如何にして認識して貰うかが必要になって来る。
その為には日本と同じ様に機関長の存在が大きな役割を果たす立場にあると思われます。即ち機器状況判断を下すのは機関長であり部下への指示者として重要な位置に在りその船の機関状況は機関長の機器管理意識レベルが反映されていると言う事。人の性格を変える事は出来ないが、考え方を変える事は出来るはずである。各国々で船内での機関運行システムに違いはあるものの、例えば機関長が１日１回見廻りするだけでもその効果は大きいものがある。
そしてその効果を持続させるには、会社関係者が適時訪船してその重要性を説く事も良いかもしれない。
何れにせよ非常に難しい問題と思いますが、ＩＢＴの中でここインドネシアに似合った方法を見い出す必要があるのではないでしょうか。
クルーの技術面の向上は今までやって来た事の効果が出ている様であり、特に修理業者（例えばフィルスン）の技能は良いものを持っており、今後に於いてはこのような業者を如何に上手く使って行くかと言う能力が求められる時期が近いずいていると思います。
トラブル対応の乗船の際には日本人スタッフは１人の時もあり、航海中であれば電話でのアドバイス等受ける事が出来ない事も発生します。その様な中で他のスタッフ、クルーとのコミュ二ケーションを取る事が要求され、その為には意思疎通を円滑にする程度の簡単な英語、インドネシア語を話せる様にしていた方が良いと思います。
インドネシアでの半年間の生活は特別長いとも、短いとも思いませんでしたが、事務局のハリム君の結婚式に出席した際司会の方から猪口さんと私の二人は呼ばれるまま、わけの分からぬままステージに上がらされ、新郎新婦を挟んだ両サイドに立たされて記念写真を撮られた事は忘れ得ぬ思い出となりそうです。
