旧ソ連邦のひとつであったキルギスは畜産についても大きなポテンシャルをもった国です。写真は独立時の混乱から減少の一途をたどっていた、”アラトウ種”という在来牛の種雄牛とその精液採取の模様です。海抜2000mくらいの高地での放牧飼育にも耐えうる貴重な牛です。私もこの牛の保存に多少なりともお手伝いができればと願っています。
